How can I remove felt tip pen from a wooden chair without taking off the paint?

My son has a wooden chair with a picture of Thomas The Tank Engine on it, but he scribbled on it with a felt tip pen. I didn't notice straight away and the pen has dried and now won't wash off. How can I get it of without damaging the paint on the chair?
