Why did the programme The Tudors not start at the beginning of the Tudor dynasty?
first of all (and no offence if you are) it's made by an american company. the original question put to the writer was "can we make the tudor dynasty into a SOAP OPERA" hense the ing it up and some of the changes to make it more "interesting". I don't think it is vitally important everyone looks exactly as they are supposed to - it's about the way they portray the characters - they could have cast a really crap actor as henry just because he was a red head for example. i realise there are a lot of inaccuracies but I also think that they have done well in places to stick to the facts - some of the actual quotes have been used etc. i think they began it at that point to hook people who might not otherwise be remotely interested - henry VIII looking to finish his marriage to Katherine is the part most people know so then it's a sensible spot to start really although i would have enjoyed a beginning with Henry VII picking up his crown from the mud of a battlefield - that would've been a great start!!!! i like the show although i haven't seen any of the 2nd series yet so i'm talking from my viewing of the 1st here. i have to say tho - that bit where he says "you think you know a story but to really know it you must go back to the beginning...." well - there's a good point cuz they didn't!!!
